Students are currently working on: Reading, Reading Comprehension, Research Outlining, Algebra I Math Skills and Drivers' Education. Reearch based remediation is being applied in order to assist students meet testing and IEP objectives.
Class Announcements
The Brain and the Mind
This chapter will cover the ideological differences between the brain and the mind.
Dr. Payne differentiates between the novice, advanced beginner, competent, proficient and the exceptional learner. We read and discuss this chapter for understanding on how each type of student makes use of information.
Week Ending 2-26-10
Students will investigate "Understanding Learning: the How,  the Why,  and  the What"  by Ruby K. Payne.
As an investigative supplement into learning problems, we will read chapter one and review common reasons for academic failure in high school age students (Chapter One: The Brain and the Mind). Chapter one takes an investigative look at the mental physical aspect of the brain. First, the chapter defines the brain as a physical processing entity  and the mind as the developed abtract of the world. An extension of 1 day has been granted on this assignment.
Week of 2-15-2010

Reading Improvement: students will pre-read the Odyssey

English 9: Students will review Greek Pronunciatons and refine their understanding of English 9 Literary Terms. 
  
Algebra 1 Part 2: Students will review polynomials.

English 12: Students will prepare for research paper writing. 


Each student will complete a 25 question social skills questionaire.
